This Privacy Policy explains how StudyBuddy ("the App", "we", "us", "the Developer") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use the StudyBuddy mobile application. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Introduction

StudyBuddy is a mobile quiz application that allows students to photograph textbook pages and receive AI-generated interactive quizzes. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the App, including quiz creators and recipients who access shared quiz links.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our service, and we automatically delete most data within 7 days.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each service may collect and process data as described below:

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

We use AWS Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFront, and API Gateway for data processing, storage, and content delivery. Textbook photos are stored in AWS S3 and automatically deleted after 7 days. Quiz data is stored in AWS DynamoDB and automatically deleted after 7 days. AWS processes data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.

Anthropic (Claude API)

We use the Anthropic Claude API for AI-powered quiz generation. When you photograph a textbook page, the image is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic processes this data to generate quiz questions and answers. According to Anthropic's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat for subscription management and user identity. RevenueCat collects device identifiers and purchase data to manage your subscription status. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf.

Apple App Store / Google Play Store

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These platforms process payments for subscriptions and may collect additional data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not have access to your payment card information; all payment processing is handled directly by Apple or Google.

We use these third-party services solely for the purposes described above and do not share your personal data with any other third-party service providers, advertisers, or data brokers.

7-Day Automatic Deletion: We retain quiz data (including uploaded textbook photos, quiz answers, scores, and associated player names) for a maximum of 7 days, after which it is automatically and permanently deleted from our systems. This is a core privacy feature of StudyBuddy.

StudyBuddy is designed for students of all ages, including children in K-12 education. We take children's privacy very seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws regarding children's privacy.

By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure that your data receives an adequate level of protection in the jurisdictions in which we process it.

The App does not track users across third-party websites or services and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. We do not use advertising trackers, behavioral advertising, or cross-site tracking technologies.
